    Series 3 rear stop/side lights

Do you know which ones you fitted, there seem to a plethora of choices! I looked at my light at the weekend, and as suspected the wiring was reversed necessitating the lamp to be inserted 180dgrees out meaning it would bounce out of the holder on the first bump - read as immediately upon...

    Series 3 rear stop/side lights

Thanks Col, I share your thoughts and conclusion. The Series models were really a work in progress. and the utilitarian nature does allow for easy cheap fixes not necessarily those which please the eye!

    Series 3 rear stop/side lights

Thanks Col, interesting that yours has a separate number plate light. Mine when I bought it had a pair of the stop/tail/number plate lights . I will dig them out anyway and see if they are salvageable.

    Series 3 rear stop/side lights

Thanks. yes I can see the mistake with the wiring/bulb, both easy to fix, I was more interested to know what Lucas lights the car would have had from new, and if the number plate illumination was only on the numberplate side or on both for symmetry?

    Series 3 rear stop/side lights

Mornin! I have been having some fun with my O/S rear stop/side light, in that the brake light keeps playing up. I replaced them soon after I got the car as the ones fitted were looking worse for wear. Now I believe the problem to be user error on my part, I think I've wired the stop/tail in...

Series 3 Misfire has got me stumped

Hi Wireman. Thanks for that info! Makes a lot more sense now why they don’t suggest retarding more than they do.

Series 3 Misfire has got me stumped

The engine would have set up for 4 star petrol. 4 Star had a minimum octane rating of 97 RON. Unleaded petrol (the basic stuff) is around 95, hence the need for slghly more ignition advance. Mine is also set at around 10, but as mentioned I did it by ear rather than with a gun!

Series 3 Misfire has got me stumped

"Already changed to a new pump and no difference other than the fuel filter is full now." Oh! you do mention trouble starting after a while, which could still point to a failing pump diaphragm. you mention timing, are you running on unleaded, if so the timing won't be per the book, it be worth...

Series 3 Misfire has got me stumped

Before you go too mad chasing it down, mine did the same (and I did the same sort of chasing, plugs, leads, disti cap, already electronic points), but in the end when it would not start the truth came out, it was the fuel pump failing. If you search for it you'll see it turned out to be quite...

Well done on getting it sorted!

    SWB re-chassis

Thanks, it seems you have some special fittings for the inertia parts - or perhaps these were modified from a 90/110 defender. I'll have to take a look, they are rather neat!

    SWB re-chassis

Thanks for the info, it's the centre belt fixing that I am most interested in. I've currently removed mine as it was getting in the way. I may need to remove the seat for an mot by the sounds of it!

    SWB re-chassis

This is an inspirational post, well done! Could you please take some pictures of your seatbelt installation, I've just got round to fitting my inertia belts, but had to take out the inertia (or indeed any) centre strap as it was fowling on the seat bases. Thanks Ashley
