HI my defender td5 did not start this morning, starter spinning normal, engine turning over normal, just no bang, checked fuel delivery, as normal, can it be the glow plugs?

Hi can anyone tell me what the extra weight is for on the back of a defender TD5 transfer box, and do I need to attach it to the discover transfer box that I swapped it for as this does not come with one and the bolt holes are different
