Thanks Ron yes oil level ok will change oil and clean out a mate of mine said similar change oil and clean filter and pipe hope this will cure it thanks again

my 300tdi would not change out of first this morning till engine had warmed up never happened before wondered if it needs an oil change in gearbox or do they have vacuum pipes or some other device to check many thanks for your help

Started my 300tdi auto this morning no problems then selected drive as normal set off and it wouldn't change from 1st stopped and selected all gears then set off again just 1st stopped again turned off and back on set off and it revved in 1st then changed as normal after that no problem does...

just to reassure everyone that i have a brain (somewhere ) i have dumped the freelander and got a disco 300tdi feels like i have got a landrover again if there is any one in south yorkshire who likes green laning would be more than happy to team up some weekend
