Bit late now but I found on the 300tdi I could leave the pipe attached there was enough slack.
-
Mine looked similar I just cleaned it up a bit and used a 12" metal rule edge to check flatness. As it was only blowing at back like mine I suspect it will be OK.

done this recently on a 300tdi pretty straight forward. Just take your time. the rear head bolt doesn't lift out with the head in situ on the discovery. Hold or use a rubber band to hold out the way while lifting the head.
re-assembly again take your time and ensure you tighten in sequence and...

Sounds like sealing washer. Normally replace if removing injector. Available most places cheap

Rubbers are available. I replaced rubbers and bolts etc. YRM are good for cross members also supply the rubbers and bolts.

Replaced mine acouple of years back. Found I didn't have to support the body. On mine the rear body mounts were completely shot anyway . Both ends of the cross member were in good condition so I measured up and cut the new to slot in. Saved having to remove the wing panels.

replaced both front shock, one had sheared its bottom fixing. Also traced and fixed the annoying oil leak its had over the last year. started with the rocker gasket and then found vacuum pump weeping. removed and replaced the rivets with nut and bolt and all seems dry. for now.....

Likewise I was not looking forward to it. Stories of seized bolts tank dropping etc. However like you it was surprisingly straightforward. All nuts came off easy and tank stayed put. My cradle has rusted through one side and was resting on the arb.

replaced mine with what looks to be identical. as previous run tank down. I then used jack to support while I removed all the bolts (4 off) I slowly lowered the jack to see if the tank would drop it didn't. so as soon as there was room I removed the old and used the jack to push the new guard...

I looked everywhere. But gave up and got the guard from paddocks. Although everywhere sells them. Straightforward to fit. I trimmed mine a bit to save removing tow brackets.

Hi
Just had to do the same on mine a 94 TDI. Cradle mounting had rusted clean though one end. The cradle and tank was resting on the ARB. After looking about had to buy a tank guard about £70. Quite easy to remove and replace .
