Sun roof/dog stink ventilation hole Hi Thanks for the info input on the sunroof thread. Before I rip mine to bits in eagerness to replace the appropriate bits with piano hinge, can I ask a bit of advice. My s/roof opens as normal, but will not retract without hand intervention...

    Not Starting No Spark????

It is possible to see it arcing. From the coil to the bracket/engine casing. I do have the old coil which also arcs, differently but not as bad. It was in fairly shagged condition, so was possibly arcing anyway. Laminations has all but spread at the middle. So I don't know. It is possible...

    Not Starting No Spark????

Well, the good news is that the beast fires up now. :D Garage tracked down the problem to the relay panel which controls the fuel pump, ecu, spark etc. Faulty connection apparantly. However:mad:  the shiny new coil I fitted, is arcing so much that there is no power. Ticks over nicely...

    Not Starting No Spark????

sounds like the cheapest option to change rotor and dizzy just in case.. will be miffed if it is though. less than 2000 miles worth them.. however I just don't know what else it could be. is there any sensors controlling the spark? its just odd that it was intermittant, disappeared and...

    Not Starting No Spark????

Hi 1999 1.8 xei freelander. Problem started as a brief misfire intermittantely. this disappeared and then on wednesday it went altogether. Kept losing power at low revs then suddenly on constant speed no load it coughed and died. I thought it was the fuel filter starving the engine...

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

depends on where your movement is. obviouslythere is movemtn on the bearings themselves as they are rubber, but they shopuldn't be moveing excessively anywhere else. if you move the drive shaft up and down at the bearings then you will get clunking at the bearing if it is worn. also if you are...

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

Just done mine. Front one took me and a LR mechanic 4 hrs to do a couple of months ago as the shaft did not want to got back on the splines of the Universal coupling. However the rear one took an hour to do today in total. Fitted like a dream. How it should be!! Haynes state this should be done...

    freelander suspension

Tatooboo, I'd concur. Sounds like the drop links. Put car on full locks and Grab hold of each one.. easy enough to spot just in front of the shock. if it moves or rattles change them. I say them cos i'd recommend doing the two together to prevent upsetting the roll bar and handling. Roll...

    Gaylander Rear Brake conversion

lookskyward1: Having never met me your opinion counts for nought. I'm extremely courtious when driving and as a father of two little ones I drive safely. I simply refer to a couple of instants where I rounded a corner and met someone in the middle of the road where I had to brake hard because...

    Gaylander Rear Brake conversion

lookskyward1 and Davec:cheeky bar-stewards..:p Brakes serviced not so long ago, with new set installed. It just beggars belief imho to fit drums to a heavy(ish) car such as the gaylander. My toyota is similar size and has all round discs and gives confidence when braking. Freebie brakes...

    Gaylander Rear Brake conversion

Has anyone tried or heard of a conversion kit to swap the rear drum to discs? Is it feasible? I'm fed up with braking with what feels on par to the friction of cheese? Too many near misses on somerset and welsh back roads, usually with Beamers that the owners simply refuse to move over...
