Clutch slave/master cylinder failed at 70,000 miles

I have a TD4 with new clutch and master/slave (yes it did that Freeloader classic and left me gearless on the M3). As a female with small feet I find it almost impossible to change gears smoothly because I can't keep my heel on the floor while releasing the clutch gently. I've never had this...
