04 td4. Thought if it was thermostat it would be very slow to heat up

Temp gauge only ever reads 1/4 although it heats up to that point really quickly. Any ideas

I think castrol are wrong, 75-90 synthetic is for the IRD

Recently bought 04 with 140,000 miles on it. In very good nick. Gave it new oil and all filters today, gearbox, IRD & diff to do next. Took off propshaft and vcu as felt tight, must get checked & new carrier bearings
