If it's a 300tdi check the back of the alternator the wire that supplies the feed for the tacho some times comes lose try reseating it failing that maybe a faulty wire.

Locked the landie at work this morning came back after me shift went to put keys in to unlock but damn thing was already unlocked this ain't the first time don't want to come back after shopping to find some arse has helped themselves to my open motor any help would be great.

I never skimed mine took some advice from here got new bolts and reset tappets after the change and now running great, only cost £150

Skim and pressure check £40 quid all round here, changing the head is simple enough, And cheap to do.

Hi i have a 300tdi m reg and have lost the 2 e-clips/circlips any one know what size they are as the local landie dealers have none in stock.

I didn't skim or pressure check and got away with it, it's a chance you take a head gasket is around 10-15 quid and if you do it your self it may be a risk you want to take to save some money.

I had that Problem was my Headgasket changed it and all good now :)

Cheers Mad Hat Man a wire on the back of the alternator had indeed come off so finally 2 weeks after the beast breaks down she now lives now to start the damn welding :)
