OK, is there a guide on how to do that? Do I need to remove anything from the top of the gearbox?

It goes the full distance leftwards (towards the passengers seat) but will not move forwards (towards the dash) to engage reverse.

Sorry about that - I meant down as in pushing the gearstick downwards (the mechanism that stops you putting it in reverse accidentally).

I've got a problem selecting reverse gear in my snatch landrover (lt 85 gearbox). All the forward gears work and I can push the gearstick down and across to where reverse is but then I can't push it up into reverse. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
