I have just done this on my 2004 td4. Had to replace fried ecu. I had to get the ecu and immobiliser control unit also chip from key from donor vehicle. Swapped chip from donor key to my original key. Also changed ecu and immobiliser control unit. And all ok. You dont need to change the ccu

Thanks to all for your help. Now back up and running. New fuel pressure switch done second hand ecu fitted from donor vehicle. Also immobiliser control unit Swapped over key cover with chip from donor vehicle into my key. All running well. Didnt require to change ccu. Thanks again

Yes I had the donor key so I have swapped the chip from that to my own key. changed ecu and immoboliser control unit. been told theres no need to change ccu. everything now seems good cheers

out I don't know about the petrol freelander but if buying ecu from ebay all you need is the ecu and immobiliser control unit. the chip from donor key { if available makes it a whole lot easier} swap chip from donor car to your key and all should be ok. there is no need to change the ccu

Ok thanks so where is the chip in new key or in the fob. and do I need to do anything with the original chip in my original key

the key fob on the freelander operates central locking only and not the immobiliser

Thanks for your help, got a secondhand ecu and all corresponding parts with it. is there an easier way of accessing the immobiliser control unit behind the dashboard other than removing dash. I have removed radio etc and can see the multiplug on the unit my thoughts were to access this by...

Ecu was fried. Have new one in process of fitting the new ccu and immobiliser box
