The current handle does not fully actuate the lever that grabs onto the door jam. As a result the door does not fully close or at all . I was able to remove the housing for the lock, at the expense of the lock in general, and install. Works great.
Thank you. That is seeming like the only option, with the exception of drilling a hole in the door to fit that housing. I can't find a comparable replacement part that does not have it.
As all the lock is is a sleeve to take a barre that then interacts with the mechanism in the flat section I would have a good guess that you could just cut off the lock sleeve carefully and have no impact on the latch mechanism itself. However it...
