RCM faults can be difficult to trace, what the fault reads is not always the fault present. You could try disconnecting the airbags, ignition off, and replacing with a 2 Ohm resistor, then repeating your test. If the same fault remains and least you then know the airbag itself is ok.

Not really familiar with this model, but did the early ones have a PBM ? I could be wrong, likely, but I think the control went direct to each rear wheel motor. There was also an emergency release behind the centre console, something that should have been continued.

No harm in running a diagnostic, personally I would go for Autell or Foxwell as they have wider vehicle coverage. If it just for LandRover I believe Lynx is a good one. Whatever you choose just ensure it covers your model and has plenty of life left. Some only cover vehicles to a set date. But...
