Hi took battery off & put it on trickle charge from 7pm last night until 10am this morning popped it back in & everything works spot on.Took it to a Auto shop to test battery & he says its absolutely spot on, the problem lies with the Alternator but beforw removal he suggests i check everything...

Hi many thanks for your reply could you please tell me what the FPR is. You say it could cause starting issues & fuel consumption issues, i am experiencing both these at the minute.........cheers

I am having exactly the same problem as we speak i have jump started my disco 2 & everything fires up again.Have been told to double check that it is battery & not alternator.........

Thanks a lot....just been out to have a look to see fuse for lights / horn / speedo etc & noticed this hanging...dont suppose this could have something to do with my problems....its actually hanging next to a pretty similar 2 point plug ( black )with the same metal retaining clip.....must be...

So do i need a new Alternator or a new battery ? Cheers...

Ok got in Disco 2,2 nights ago & battery was dead got jump start & got home put battery on charge all night ( not sure exactly how much it charged up )seemed fine yesterday & this morning but went dead again this afternoon,jump started to get me home but lost all flashers horn lights speedo etc...

Hi just wondering if anyone could help with a leak which looks like its coming from back diff ( i think ) its not a great amount just worried it may cause some damage if not put right as it looks like its getting slightly worse.Fluid is quite yellowee & a bit tacky as well regards david

Ok thanks very much im getting somwhere now......if 1 is an inspection hole with plug missing would this have anything to do with discovery not starting & the flashing m & s on the dash in green. Im now thinking that because photie 2 is transmission drainage & looks fine....im basically back to...

Ok could some one please tell me if the sump plug goes into hole in 1st photo....if yes what is it in photo 2 ......cheers

Hi just reposted in other section....cant believe i have had a look underneath & found no drainage plug at all on bottom of gearbox.....just a deep threaded hole about size of 20p piece.....im assuming this has to be the problem.....cheers david...

Hi...ok i have been at my witts end for the last 6 hrs trying to get to the bottom of why the green m & s lights are flashing on my dash, hence disco wont start, as a last resort ive crawled underneath for some dtrange reason to look at the gearbox & the plug which i assume you would unscrew to...

Hi am wondering if someone could please help as I have conked out, basically it won't start & the green M & S light are flashing on the dash,this has happened only twice in 2 years but after switching engine off & running the auto gear lever up & down through the gears it has rectified itself...
