thanks for your replies the unit is a bbs fcr 60 bought from bellautos which i have sent them a email with the problem i have updated the unit to the latest 1.8 firmware as suggested by bell and checked battery volts ok (new heavy duty 644 battery) does the diagnostic wiring from edc go...

after trying out new fcr it reads all ecu's except the engine edc reports comms failure 1 any one with ideas thanks newbie
