VERITAS clutch kit - any good?

Has anyone fitted a VERITAS clutch? I've found a 3-piece kit for £57 on t' eBay. Is it worth the money or are they the same quality as blue-box stuff?

    Fitting 300tdi

300tdi trial fit with bulkhead went OK. Just a couple of adjustments to make. I might make the engine sit a bit higher, now I understand how much room is in the engine bay.

Loss of power going up hills

I note air filter wasn't mentioned (although I assume it was part of the service).

    Fitting 300tdi

It's got a defender LT77 unit on at the mo. Using it as a welding template. If I get brave enough, then I might build an R380 / LT77 hybrid. Just not a priority right now.

    Fitting 300tdi

....actually, I doubt any standard mount would fit because my engine is about 4" forward due to non-standard gearbox. Best thing for me is to: 1) grow a pair and take the grinder to the battery tray and old mounts. 2) sit the whole lot together and make it fit!

    Fitting 300tdi

TBA, I'm quite happy that the front x-member is being left in it's "virgin state". I was going to fab my own mounts - I'll see about price on ebay. What's the crack with "cold galv paint"? What advantage does it hold over a zinc primer and top coat (underseal for example)? I like an...

    Fitting 300tdi

I've already got my a 300, Nick. It's almost done now anyway. Does a 200 sit on the old mounts? I knew it would happen, Doc. It just breaks my heart to take the grinder to something so beautiful. It is only a battery tray, and a bit of engine mount so I think I will get over it. It was just...

    Fitting 300tdi

Well.... I finally received my chassis from Richards, and now I've got my 300tdi lump sat on top of it. I knew this would happen, but I've got to cut bits off my new chassis to make the engine fit. This is going to break my heart!

    Steering bar lengths

I've gone and got myself 2 defender axles, and I think I'm going to cut the coiler bits off them and fit them to my series - load of threads on that, so I'm happy. What I can't find is what length of steering bar I need to connect the series steering relay to the defender steering knuckle - I...

    engine seems to far back

I assume the bulkhead and it's outriggers are in the right place (otherwise the sideways bolts through the chassis wouldn't line up)?? 11" between front pulley and front x-member sounds too much. Is the front x-member original? I've seen them modified for power steering boxes, which involves...

2.25 diesel - oil light always on...

Maybe easiest to run a new wire?!?
  12. S

How heavy is a 2.25 diesel?

Consider the weight of the crane itself. I wanted one that I can lift myself to move from job-to-job. The 2 ton units were a bit too heavy for a 1 man lift. I got this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GMDLSLO/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The biggest thing I've lifted with...

    New project - stood for 31 years - 1959 S2

Try unbolting the gear lever and see whats under there. Wouldn't surprise me if you find potatoes growing in there! Clean and crap out of the 3 selector rods and soak them with a penetrating oil. Work the gear stick round on the bench. That worked my my S3.

    My series 3 rebuild

That's some good work there! I need to do something similar.

    Weld or re-chassis

I was in the same situation. I wanted confidence that the dumb irons weren't going to fall off on the rough stuff. When I thought about the time and effort required to patch and weld, the cost of new x-members and 1/4 chassis etc. I just ordered the chassis from Richards. I want to keep the...
