When trying to fit the new switch, it wouldnt screw on. When I checked the thread, they looked slightly different. The part number of the new...

Is its an oil pressure light or charging light?

Had a quick look earlier. There is a sensor just underneath the thermostat at the front of the engine with a wire going to it, the male spade on the sensor is lose. I messed around with it and now the amber light goes out when engine started. I presume thats the oil sensor. The engine is an...

I turned the dizzy clockwise a bit and the backfiring was even worse. Went deaf after a jolly round the block, will retard it a bit. Really need a strobe to get it working like a Swiss watch.

Loss of power going up hills

Found the problem. Head gasket had gone. Whilst the head was off I got it skimmed. I then de-coked it, lapped the valves. Cleaned, put it together. Finished it last night, started on the button, runs sweet as a nut !!!!!! Also found its a later 5 bearing crank engine.

Loss of power going up hills

Yeah pretty sure it's fully open. I'll order a gasket set once I've done a compression check. still waiting for the gauge to come, ordered it over a week ago. I'll keep you posted but I'm not going to be able to touch it for a week or so, flat out at the moment.

    Mongolia 2015

All the best on that! I done the Mongol rally in 998 Mini. It was brilliant. We went Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, up back into Russia then down into Mongolia finishing in Ulaanbaatar. Was 8500 miles and took 3 weeks. It was pretty much the same route as the long way round boys. We were going...
