    Bosch starter fitted today, all good and a clean bill of health. Turns out a power drop from the solenoid to the starter left it unable to push The cog all the way forward, (corroded lead). Bring on the snow..

    Thanks Greenhornet, After posting I went back out with the meter to check a few of the suggestions from other posts it was soo cold one of the leads broke off my voltmeter, after that I pulled the starter again and got it onto the bench, testing with another battery was inconclusive there was...

    Got the disco 2 up on the ramps and pulled the starter motor, F*#king top nut, 2 hours later its on the bench waiting for the plunger and contacts arriving in the post. Hope its not Yodel :bored:
