    do you mean universal joints might be worn or is cv joint compleatly wrong?!

    just bought my first defender [89 90] and there is a painful knocking noise when i press down on the gas and change gear. i have deduced from this site that it may be the cv joint?? any help is welcome as i am a novice!!
