Iv'e just cured this issue on mine. Same engine just re-fit into an 87 ninety. What had happened was that the wire insulation had perished next to the starter motor.
First check your earth straps, from battery to Chassis and block, and Alternator terminals and clean them up.
I always put a...

The rears fit just fine. Ive got a 1990 RRC rear axle on my 87 ninety. From what Ive heard the front should be fine too. They are 10 spline diffs so obviously that needs taking into account. The only downside I have found is replacement parts such as the stub axle's cost about 4x as much as...

My 200TDI ,(out of a Defender) is a replacement for the 2.5TD. Bubbles along at 55-60 quite happily if I push her up to 70 she starts to scream a bit so I rarely go above 60. Thats a 200TDI into a 1987 90 with no other Modifications. I have 15" rims but I cant remember the Tyre height.

It was the ignition switch. I wound up getting a garage to do it. It took him 3 hours and a fair few tools to remove the shear bolts.

Hi there. Ive got a 1987 90 that I've had for near on 10 years in varying states of build/decay over the years. Just saying hi. First time on these forums there's an absolute wealth of Landy knowledge that has been untapped by myself on here. Loving it.

As its intermittent I havn't suceeded in finding it and it hasn't come on so I can check that the fault is not powering my glowplugs. Unfortunately it will have to now wait a month as I've gone to sea. Bit of a bugger!!

Hi there.
I have a 1987 90 ex 2.5TD which has been upgraded to a 200tdi, Without the Cold start timer relay. Often when I am driving the Cold Start warning light comes on. Before I start stripping back the Binnacle etc does anybody know a possible fix. i.e would changing the Glow Plugs...
