Hi, I’ve been trying this approach today. There are multiple holes in the flywheel. How do you know which one is TDC. The cam belt cover plate is still on, so I can’t use the other reference point that was mentioned o_O

More photos of the engine bay.

Photos attached. Is it properly in? Between 10-12 o’clock, it only goes in half that distance. 9 o’lock also kind of works.
I have a wading plug hole too, should I be using that instead?

I have managed to locate the FIP pin, is at 1 o’clock (not 10 o’clock)....what does that mean? It suggests it way off right? But that isn’t helping me find TDC....I might be getting closer to the problem.

Okay, when looking (feeling) at the flywheel there are multiple hole for the timing pin to fit into. How are you meant to know which one? For clarity, I have removed the little hatch facing backwards near the sump and I’m using the right hand hole (larger one) for the pin.
I’m turning the...

Did you fix the problem? It’s also my problem now.......

If I want to turn the engine over by turning the crankshaft (27mm) nut, should the auto be in neutral?

Should I be looking for a TDC mark on the pulley?

I’ll get a photo of the engine bay tomorrow. I have a MAF sensor but my stop solenoid does not have the anti theft plate.
I replaced the Stop Solenoid, no improvement.
I’m going to fit a cold weather starter motor tomorrow.
I want to check the injection pump timing. I have the fly wheel...

Fizzer, 10 years! Right help is here. I will get to the bottom of our problem.

When the engines hot it starts first time. But leave it 30mins and I’m back to the cold start problem again.

I have replaced the fuel lift pump and the turbo (Oil seal had failed). No improvement. The smoke clears once the engines warm.
It’s slow turning over, I’ve now put a 830A, 95Ah battery in it, biggest I could find. No improvement
Once it does get going and warms up there is a slight knocking...

Hi guys,
I have bought a new exhaust manifold. The wings (bull horns) are a loose fit, is this right? Should I use exhaust sealant to get a air tight fit?
thanks.

Hi guys, I’m trying to replace my turbo but the cartridge appears to be stuck in the exhaust manifold. I have loosened the 4 retaining bolts but the cartridge is solid inside the manifold. I’ve given the cartridge and then manifold a few hefty taps with a hammer but no success.
Any tips?

It’s an auto not sure whether EDC.
When it does finally start there are plumes of white smoke, only for a second, I’m assuming this is diesel and that fueling is not the problem. It cranks reasonably well.
I got hold of a massive jump starter but no improvement. Less likely the battery now...
