My Missus was given a courtesy car recently with little fuel in it and they just said Oh there's a garage down the road.....which was closed.
I say give it back as you found it - they charge enough for the work they do anyway.

Apart from the shagged front diff, I quite like my Freelander. Might get a newer one TD4 is quite appealing

Ha yes but I quite like it really - it's got the toys I want in a car and I don't mind it getting a knock or two in the car park at work. Just needs 4wd now!!

Having suspected for some time that my Freelander was knackered I did some investigating a couple of months ago. My Freelander is running RWD and so I thought the IRD must have gone u/s. Now I'm wondering if the driveshafts have shed their splines or whether the front diff has gone. Has anyone...

Jacked up the drivers front wheel and was able to spin the wheel to cause the ticking noise.
I've got a feeling its comming from the IRD and if so could be expensive.
I also tried starting the flander whilst the front was up. There was no movement of the wheel that was off the floor but I felt...

Mine is doing exactly the same. First thing I checked was if there was a stone or nail in the tyre. Someone at work suggested that the brake pads are loose??? However dabbing the brakes does not make the "ticking" go away. will try and investigate this weekend.

Very useful info thanks - seems my Flander is OK. I was worried cos after a drive I can't get the fan to come on. Engine bay is stinking hot too. Temp guage sits halfway. Spent ages checking it over and head scratching. Fans come on with a/c so knew they worked.
