P38A Heaters hot one side cold the other

Before you go disembowelling the dash I'd suggest testing them first. You can do that by pulling out the HEVAC and working on the motor wires. All three of the '5 wire' motors are the same (temp each side and distribution) Black and Brown are the motor wires. Red / black and grey are the...

Can anyone tell me if all of the 3 '5 wire' blend motors on my P38 identical? they look it and electrically they certainly are. but are they mechanically identical or do the 2 on the OS have different end stops? I see they are colour coded grey and blue.

    Heater motor transistor info

Just some info for the more adventurous of us. I recently had the not unknown problem of a heater motor continuously running at full chat. That was due the a failure of one of the internal amplifier transistors, these are getting difficult to find and becoming expensive. RS Component can supply...

    EAS pump running too often

Merry Christmas one and all. Just for completeness I should say (albeit rather late) that Datatec hit the nail on the head. Checking the height sensors revealed erratic responses from the OSF and changing that solved the problem! I think it was just changing height all the time and running out...

    P38B poor running

So here's a thing. I've been having some problems with the EAS (see separate topic) and ran a diagnostic check just in case there were any fault codes stored. Of course there weren't any for the EAS but the was one for the MAF, low out put. So I checked the electrics and sure enough everything...

    EAS pump running too often

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, to be honest I'm not seeing much which fits the symptoms though. I thought about the thermal cut off and pressure switch, but why does it settle down after a while? I did wonder if there might be a constriction in the pump to tank circuit, such that the pump...

    EAS pump running too often

Evening guys. So…. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the EAS pump running a lot in short bursts. From start up or from any height increase it runs on and off in about 4 second bursts, this might go on for 15 minutes before it settles down. In all other respects the system works perfectly. I...

What is your true cost of R/R ownership

I’d liken the true cost of ownership to the experience of growing old, truth is it’s a bugger, but the alternative is much worse

You got Ranger Rover mate, nothing is obvious!

    Stereo has gone silent???

There is a good chance that the DSP amp in nsr of the boot behind the woofer has stopped working. Do a little digging and locate the unit, and check for an audio feed on both right and left channels. Ther sre lots of wires in the plug so you’ll need a wiring diagram and it’s not a...

    P38B poor running

Ok, so just for all those poor souls searching the forum for answer I can confirm the MAF sensor fixed the problem. Having taken the advise offered I ran the car with the MAF disconnected and guess what, it made no difference. I then removed and cleaned the MAF with Meths and this made a vast...

Has your BCEM got insomnia? Mine had and here’s how I know…

Sorry guys I didn’t mention the fix. Took the aerial off the receiver! It was the only choice short of moving house or burning down my mates shed. Since the alarm was transmitting on exactly the same frequency a new receiver would not have been of help Be careful though… parking...

    Suspensiion height

I once had a series 2 petrol with a lean to the OS and was told it’s common because both diffs are on the same side and are very heavy……no really the guy thought he was helping!
