I use a company that only do MOTs, their workshop is spotless, has an automated testing lane so every single time the test is the same rather than having an ape swinging on a pry bar etc. The tester just says "Pass or Fail, makes no difference...
Ask them if they would do a "MOT Pre-Check".
For the std MOT fee, my local guy goes through the MOT process without logging onto the computer system. Then if he's happy it's effectively a pass, I have a cuppa for 45mins while he does the...
Good luck with that, I remember the UK MOT garages always finding a fault and being disappointed when I took the vehicle away to DIY the repair. Here they test stations are independent and not part of a garage.
Rear airbags replaced last night. First time I've ever changed them without one being split; didn't think about what a ball-ache it is to refit the rear arch liner after removing it to release the pressure from the valve block. The good news...
Got me MOT due in September but found out yesterday the place I have always used for many years now got burnt to he ground a couple of months back.. As Tony the owner is in his 80's and his son is now 60 it doesn't look like they will be...
Checked my NS mirror. Bit odd. The glass had just detached itself. Plastic strap and even the plastic mount that typically explodes as soon as you look at it fine. Reassembled and it is fine. Bit of a result!
Did this a while ago but needed decent rain shower to test it ...
Leak in boot fixed. It was the bonding along the top of the rear quarterlight window. Smear of sealant in the gap and she's dry again.
Just had a call with my TÜV engineer, and he had good news!
The tubular exhaust will simply be declared as a replacement part, no further inspection or so needed. 🤩
If I really get the Weber four barrel carb, he would need a dyno run to change...
Well, there are maybe more issues with all of that. Hell, not that I was into perfomance tuning to begin with, even the exhaust is so far standard, just in stainless steel.
Anyways, since the exhaust manifolds are shot, well, the right one is, I...
Man, am I happy mine has none of those pesky electronics! 😉
Anyway, just bolted down the upper dash and instrument carrier before rain drove me in. The connector for the instruments is actually poka-yoke, fool proof, as in it can only be plugged...
Thanks guys. As it happens I went ahead without the nanocom & loosened the mid 4 FIP bolts and tapped the actuator forwards with a hammer & it's running sweet as a nut now (aren't hammers just the best thing ever 😄 🤣 😂). I'll get some readings...
Solved a mistery, the rev counter. The red wire is 12 V plus, the grey-red one is lighting the green one goes to the coil plus and the brown one is the negative. All I had to do was to remove it from its housing... So rev green goes to the coil...
Took her for a little drive........... to the cemetery. No it wasn't to threaten her 🤣 Just a visit to my Nan on her birthday. I'd bought a box of those garden lights that aren't too bright, and put a couple near the headstone.
It was a box...
I still need the solution.
it worked very well as follows:
loosen the rear screws (4 pieces, 2 on the left and 2 on the right) and lower them slowly. I supported it with the paper rolls. Then I was able to pull the sun visor out to the rear...
I think the MAF is the culprit, when going slow on a roundabout or junction the rpm is in the region of 700ish the MAF reading goes up and down from 25kg and when the car starts to “hunt” it goes down as far as 0 for a second or so. As soon as it...
So, spent my lunch break while working from home to check something under the car. Pulled myself out grabbing the front propshaft. Managed to turn it by hand appr. 20 degrees. The rear one is tack solid.
Means the front diff is shot, but not...
