Advice on brake master cylinder and rear brake valve

The parts book lists pressure reducing valve ANR1415 for a disc brake 110/130 without ABS. I would be very surprised if any non-abs system did not use a pressure reducing valve, it is very dangerous if the rear brakes lock up under heavy braking.

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Have you tried running it in gear with the transfer box in neutral? If it still makes the noise then you can discount the transfer box and U/J's.

    INSA TURBO Risko MT

Thanks, I think that 750's are being phased out, I will be swapping onto 235-85-16 when I change, just need all four to wear out at the same time. The Sahara's seem to be on back order with most of the cheaper suppliers at the moment, which is why I was considering alternatives. I think I will...

    INSA TURBO Risko MT

Looking at replacing my tyres on my 110. I currently have 750-16 Insa Turbo Sahara tyres, but I'm looking at fitting Insa Turbo Risko MT. Other than the 5hite name, does anyone have any experience of these tyres? How would they compare with the Insa Turbo Sahara tyres?

    The standard leaking roof

I do wonder how many Land Rover leaks are actually condensation? After all there aren't many joints above the gutter.

Temp gauge reads hot when lights switched on....?

Weird stuff with electrics is (nearly) always a bad earth.

    300tdi Manual to Auto conversion

I used to drive an early 300tdi Auto, it was as flat as a witch's tit. They are as numb as anything and like driving a 2.5 N/A with a slightly slightly faster top end.

My Defender 110 1989 won't engage gears while engine is running. What could this be ?

Clutch not disengaging. If it was working when parked up check the fluid level in the clutch mastercylinder. Assuming there is sufficient fluid and the clutch pedal feels normal, your clutch plate may have stuck to your flywheel. Try starting it in gear with the clutch depressed and the hand...

    300 tdi in td5 chassis

I would expect everything except the engine mounts to be the same. The TD5 mounts are massive compared with the 300tdi. If you can weld, welding on 300tdi mounts is probably the simplest answer, or find a rotten Discovery II and chuck a TD5 in it.

    6x6 master cylinder

Assuming that this isn't you, you could email these guys, they had the same problem as you. http://album.sixappealwheel.org/index.php/Walts-Albums/Range-Rover-Commando-6x4/album07?page=4

    6x6 master cylinder

Is your current master cylinder a knackered correct one or is it the wrong one? If it is the correct one then you could measure the internal dimensions and compare it with standard parts. Alternatively, are Carmichael still in business? They may know if they changed the master cylinder. As the...

Question about historic MOT & VED exemption

The MOT exemption rules aren't meant to be a strict and inflexable set of rules, they seem to be aimed at hotrods, eg Ford Pops with Jag rear axles and big V8's. If you look at it in this context the rules and guidannce seem to make more sense. If you replace the original engine with an engine...

    90 camper

I would give a second vote for a bulkhead delete kit. If your sleeping platform is too high then it will be mega-claustrophobic and a real pain to get in and out of. I think you may be pushing your luck in any case, I have a 110 which I use for camping and there is not a right lot of room in...

    New Defender Name Theory

They're made in the Czech Republic, not the UK, so no Indian or Brummie accents. Perhaps they should be called the Přistát Rover Obránce.
