Double checked the newly installed brake pads from the other weekend, did a road test with a mate, the grinding/rubbing is definitely from the rear nearside, not the front. SO, while I did the pads change properly, it wasn;t the front. Morale: Always have a mate providing a second set of ears...

Hmm. Although I got a good result at the end of things, Operations Discs & Pads did not go as planned... The intent was to replace all the pads and discs for all four wheels, as I was getting a grinding noise, apparently from the rear nearside. THis, coupled with a visual inspection of the...

Parts on order from Craddocks for my D2Td5. Brake pads, all round; brake discs as well; the n/s/r disc is rather messy (visible grooves around the outer 1cm or so), so might as well do the bloody lot while I'm playing with spanners under the wagon... Oh, and spare bolts (just in case, you know...

For UHF, VHF (high), and VHF (low), SWR tends to be acceptable. Certainly, I've got it below 1.5:1 for most bands, except HF. on 10 metres (just below UK CB at 11 metres), it's through the ruddy roof (no pun intended). I'm thinking that this is due to the pidddle poor grounding of most of the...

My personal preference goes to Castrol Magnatec. YMMV, of course ;)

Seems a tad long for UHF, surely? VHF, maybe, HF certainly?

Well, the drivers side window glass debacle is now in the final stretch Window glass fitted, glue holding it in place drying (should be sorted in an hour or so), and all that remains is for me to replace the water shedder and the door card trim (since I removed those for the tech from...

SO much for getting the window done today. Seems that AutoGlass's supplier cocked things a bit, and provided a window glass for the Disco5, not the Disco2. Let's hope third time's the charm.

Roughly a week or so back, while shutting the drivers door as normal (not slamming, this was normal closing!) and while winding up the window at the same time, the glass shattered. So, the repair guy from Autoglass came out the next day with a temporary window for the wagon (D2TD5), and...

I've got OS on my phone, but if I'm using topo maps, I always carry paper backups (old habit). Is the CB a constant fitting in your Disco? If so, do you have skylights, and if so, manual or electrical? If manual, and you've sealed it up permanently, you can fit a smallish two-way box in the...
