    Thanks for the replies, I now understand a bit better how the light works. I'm sure it's connected correctly. It's difficult to get it wrong because the B+ brown wires have 9.5mm twin spades and the D+ has 6.3mm spade. Continuity and earthing all checked out as ok with multimeter and engine...

    Protective paint query

    Hi, there are several possible ways to treat the area. The easiest is probably to use black "smooth" Hammerite. My choice would be to buy an etch primer and Land Rover chassis black, both are obtainable on Ebay. Note: this method of protection will not go over the top of underseal or Waxoyl.
