    Wiring problem ?

I've had this problem although not in a Freelander. Check the rear stop/tail light (the one with 2 elements) I found that one lamp had been manufactured with an extra long filament and had shorted the brake and sidelight circuits. Changing the lamp solved the problem.

Various problems with td4 auto box , very dirty inlet

Sorry still being dim (weapon systems I can fix, gearboxes are much more complicated!) The gears, unless the teeth are broken surely cannot slip. The fluid clutch must slip as a design feature, otherwise the vehicle would stall at idle. Rikki

Various problems with td4 auto box , very dirty inlet

I still need to ask the muppet question. How do you know it's slipping when there is no physical connection between engine and gearbox? Rikki

Various problems with td4 auto box , very dirty inlet

Permission to ask what may be a really dumb question. I've a TD4 auto on a 54 Plate and I tow horse trailer with 2 horses. Normally no problem, I have noticed that the gear change can cause an increase in engine revs with no increae in road speed. It hadn't occured to me that an Auto box...

    That's my best guess.

    More strange noises

Fully accept the point on unplugging things at random, however based on where it was located, it was a risk worth taking. Since then have discovered (by taking it apart) its the motorised valve that allows the air to recirculate, and that its jammed in the recirculate position. To get to the...

    More strange noises

About 4 hours ago my Freelander (54 Plate) started emitting a v loud buzzing noise from the passenger footwell. Having dismantled the Glovebox there is a greybox made by Valoe that appears to be the offending article. I've disconnected the wiring as a temporary solution. The box appears to by...
