Disco 2 TD5 camshaft rotation torque

.......when I said in my original post that another used head will probably have the same problem, I didn't mean cracked. I meant it would probably be warped and therefore the camshaft placed under bending loads. LR say the head is scrap if it has more than 4 thou warp, though plenty seem to...

Disco 2 TD5 camshaft rotation torque

Yes mate. I've had the joy of changing one of them before so that was early on my list of things to look at.

Disco 2 TD5 camshaft rotation torque

Yep- I already used a UV dye. The only thing it came up with was a very feint glow around the rim of the tailpipe which kind of backed up my theory of a crack between the coolant jacket and exhaust port. Also, OAT tends to leave a pink stain even on small, evaporating leaks and I don't have any...

Disco 2 TD5 camshaft rotation torque

Hi all. Has anybody got any thoughts on this one? I've got a 2003 D2 TD5 (15P) which started losing water with no external leak and no oil/water mixing, no cooling system pressurising, holds pressure after shutdown, no water/steam out of the exhaust- nothing. I pulled the head and found nothing...

    D2 apparent turbo lag?

Thanks Lynall, some things to have a look at there when I get home this evening. The fact that I also had a factory MAF sensor fitted which showed the same symptoms pretty much rules out the sensor in my mind. I'm going to put my MAF sensor on my girlfriends 2003 G4 to see if the fault transfers...

    td5 running out of fuel

I've had this problem of the engine stopping from fuel starvation when at or below 1/4 full. Trouble was it only did it occasionally so took some time to get to the bottom of. I seem to have fixed it by changing the pump. There is a swirl pot in the pump which is kept full by the LP pump so that...

    Possible knackered engine

I had a burst hose on mine on the motorway. It was early and I was still half asleep so the first thing I noticed was that I was having to give it more pedal to maintain speed. I eventually got to full throttle and my speed was gradually dropping off- I think I was down to about 50mph flat out...

Noisy gearbox with clutch depressed TD5

I suggest that you check or change the clutch pushrod while you're in there. The ball that fits into the socket in the clutch release fork can wear to the point where it pushes through the hole in the fork and then you can't disengage the clutch. It happened to me at about 200k miles. I put up...

    Disco 2 7 seater to 5

When I sold my 5 seater a couple of years ago and replaced it with a 7 seater my insurance premium went up by about 50%. My insurers said that with 7 seats I could kill more people in a crash and therefore their payout would be higher. So, I got a couple of storage bins from a breaker and...

    D2 apparent turbo lag?

It was a Siemens VDO. But- 2 years ago I also fitted the one off of my previous Disco which I'd had from new and still had the original factory sensor. It gave the same symptoms so in my mind it's pretty hard to fault the MAF sensor. I'll standby to be proved wrong though!

    D2 apparent turbo lag?

Hi, has anybody got any thoughts please on this problem with my 2004 Td5 manual Disco? It is all standard, 93k miles, FSH and still has the EGR valve fitted and working. It appears to suffer from turbo lag (more than normal) below 1500 RPM but otherwise goes perfectly well. I found some time ago...

    New to the forum

Good to know- thanks. I've had autos before but not Landrover ones so interested in how well they work and are they generally reliable. Might go and test drive one soon (D2).

Yeah- spent a while messing around with it today but no sign of a save option. I used the Hawkeye to reprogram the SLABS from air to coils OK but the speedlock doesn't want to play.
