Max if you want pictures of it all look at my “try again thread” there’s also details in there for it all. I’ve gone to the extent of new tubs where I didn’t watch to keep patching! You’ll be buzzing once it’s done.
  • R
Does look nice and solid don’t it and ties in well to the uprights
  • R
Shout if you need any more pics as I’ve one D1 in use and that restoration 👍🏻

Yeah pretty disheartening when I took the trim off and it was full of metal; better to do it than to let it get worse though! Looks like it's coming together well, there's a lot of work there. I'm just trying to plan out where to start, every...

Yeah I lifted mine from there with wooden blocks. I did a similar repair to the one you’re doing years ago. It’s quite intricate at the boot end! The actual beam isn’t too bad. You’ve got unlucky that it’s gone there. Yeah I’m doing full...

Yeah I like those. Think it’s called windjammer - suits a defender so well. And arran beige which you never see!!!

Yeah. Every bit helps. It is deep bronze green. Original colour and my favourite. Quite partial to farmer blue as well though.

Well this old sow has been excellent through the winter. I thought I’d sell it when restoration is done but think I’d struggle to part with her. What I’d like to know if what you guys would do to give it a little refresh mechanically? I’ve...

Your door was likely scraping due to the hinge sagging mate rather than the metal work sagging. Good shout on the bar across the back - I’ve literally just done the same as what you say albeit I used a crane.

Time to check everything lines up! Also repaired the pillar and neatened it right up. I’m going to chop the bottom off other side and repeat the process as it’s so much tidier and I hate it when this area looks scabby. You really notice it on...

You'll have to see if the pump gets power and if it does means it's dead which is the most likely scenario, first check in C0376/0390(attached) from here the circuit goes to the pump... if no power we'll speak then but if you have power prepare a...

A bloody fiddly job. Angles, twists and tiny pieces. You can see that the crossmember is supposed to be sandwiched between inner and outer skin. I wonder how many actually do this as you have to chop off a bit more than you’d want to. My pencil...

Oem flanges dont have the best tolerances so you do get a fair bit of fretting and transmission slap. Fairly reduced with the HD flanges! Think ill stick with britpart shafts and CVs takes a fair bit of lead foot and shockload to actually break...

Those HD CVs are seriously expensive too. I agree with the above - I reckon if you hadve had cheap members they would’ve cheesed up first. Do you decide where the weakest link is to be and make it the cheapest part lol? Like you said, go HD with...

That’s some torque… think as all your stuff is HD when it goes,it goes well… Form them pics I would say the shaft splines would not give way and expanded while been twisted. Once it was wedged in the stub that’s when it snapped the shaft. (See...
