The truck was regularly serviced and had fortune spent on it , not just on accessories thank you ****erman, had complete new floor, new bearings and ball joints gear box oil,new discs and belt was done around 80k was doing around 20mph when it stopped

Hi my 300tdi disco broke down yesterday , the rac man came out had a quick look and said the timing belt was broke? So is it always the case that the engine will be damaged ? Or is it lucky sometimes and fit a new belt and of you go.? And how would I know this? I've spent a small fortune...
