Hi thanks everyone,I have now sorted it.Traced it to a short on the reversing light bulb holder which kept blowing a fuse,so it wasnt immobilised after all!:)

My 1993 R/R tdi has immobilised itself! This is a recent purchase,noticed the reversing light werent working so on removing the lenses found that both bulbs had been removed,replaced them and tried in reverse gear,nothing happened except now i have no ignition/abs lights no power to cig lighter...
