Thanks will give it a try , when i say it doesnt idle right i mean it can sometimes cut out totally and can be spluttery. Could it be the maf?

Hi folks , having troble with range rover classic, runs on both petrol and lpg. The problem i have is when started on petrol it chucks a black suit out the exhaust when started and will not idle properly, but when started on gas it doesnt do this and idles and tuns perfectly. What would cause...

I also though about the possibility of it running on both fuels. But it iam not sure how as it has at somepoints idled fine on petrol. I want to do away with the lpg system al togeather so think iwill shut down the gas side of things and then go from there.

i notice that my vacumn advance going to distributor hose is not in good shape ,so iam sure that wont be helping things. What happenes if this is not connected correctly? i have the lpg side of things working again its all good. Just the petrol side wont idle at all now it just dies and even...

wish i had never touch that afm now, after i did the lpg side wont idle now aswell, grrrr i seem to be making things worse rather than better.

well, cleaned maf usuing electrical contact cleaner , let it dry out for about an hour and then installed it back into range rover, with no luck, think i have made things worse infact as lpg not as smooth as it was before. really not sure what else would be the cause , unless the maf is...

this morning i took the maf out , and had a look , inside it is filthy, almost like an oily residue left all over the inside of it, is this normal? What is best to clean it? just maf cleaner? will it get the oily residue out? also what is blowback? Iam not farmiliar with this? will also try...

if the maf was dodgey would this cause it to , like i said on my first post, idle correctly sometimes but most of time not idle correctly/idle ruff (spluttery)? If the maf was dodgy would it not show a light on dash?

possibly could be the throttle position sensor, but would that not affect the lpg side of things aswell? runs on lpg no problem.

it had been run on lpg for a while however , before i switched to petrol i filled it up full of fresh petrol, it was on the red light when i filled it up.
