Clearly you are rather over sensitive to anything contrary to what you think you know. Most of the comments early in this thread were why it might not be a good idea. You took them as direct critisim rather than answer in a technical manner...

If it went down one of the oil returns, chances are it's in the sump ? From that angle, my bet would be it bounced on chassis or drive shafts & is lodged or stuck to an oily bit below. If it hit the ground it could have bounced anywhere...

Cycle the ignition a few times without starting. On mine I can usually hear the motors moving after a while. The docs say it self- calibrates every X hundred uses, but who knows what the real number is !!

"This" was the first word if I remember correctly. Anyway, have you swapped the diffs yet?

So many words with so little meaning plus a one month trip in view. Must be retired or a politician to have that amount of spare time. If retired, then from an age when swapping bit on cars was a simple thing to do. Not so now with all the...

Last year I put vacuum on my Blue P38 AC system, but didn't get round to having it gassed. Re-checked to day & it still has full vacuum, so hopefully gonna get it done this week. Green P38 AC is nice & cold, so that one is getting used...

The other next steps is a banch test like this: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/97-p38-gems-eas-issue-which-seems-to-have-expanded.387706/post-5576496

GEMS has an additional cover plate, but I think the 1999 onwards it's part of the sump on Thor engine ? Not sure about diseasel though. The bell housing inspection plate should be enough to see the flex plate on all types ?

Yes you can just fit one scrader valve in place of the compressor, but you will also need to activate the diaphragm valve to fill the tank. This also assumes there are no other leaks. The problem with this approach is the tank will get...

My local MOT guy will do a dummy MOT test for the standard fee. That way I can fix it before the real test & avoid fails or advisories.

Fixed slooby's old Rangie. Running nicely. Leak off on #2 and #3 were leaking everywhere, of course. Quick fix with sone spare pipe I had ready. Now what the hell do I do with it? MoT test, maybe?

+1 it's all described in RAVE, but that doesn't detail the ECU strategy. Only how valve-4 works & the stages.

The auto box is controlled electronically and the firmware can be adapted for many different situations just as it will be different for the petrol engine compared to the diesel.

If the pump is not refurbished yet, just put the valves on the four airlines that go to the airbags. Tyre pump might do it, but most are only good for 35-40psi. The airbags need about 50-60psi for standard height. Once the airbags & pump are...

CR Max does not do most stuff on a P38. Petrol Engine & possibly gearbox only. You need Nanocom or EASunlock V3 If your EAS is on the bumpstops, there's no air in it & no need to deflate. Simply push the collets in & pull the airlines out...

I did not imply you let the box get low on fluid, or state it was you, or blame you. You clearly said in the other thread it was low when you bought it, and was going into limp mode. You indicated (not stated) that you were looking at used...

As it happens, RRPhil suggested your gearbox was probably on it's way out due to running low on fluid for a while before you bought it ? Mine was a simple question with no ridicule, hidden banter, mickey taking, etc. Just a query because...

@RRMaximus you have alot of perseverance. You keep on bleating that you want to lower your RPM but if not fuel economy then why? If its for engine longevity you do realise that a lower RPM but higher throttle request cause higher cylinder...

Finally after more than a year, repaired the plastic tabs on my lower tailgate trim last night. 2mm aluminium strips glued with Sticks Like SH*T. All nicely bonded, and re-installed just now. The cover has been flapping for ages.

These were our TD4 before & after injector tip cleaning. What I didn't do was time them properly to get a good mL per Min measurement.
