Had a look under the cover this evening and (as looking from the front of the car) top left intercooler house has possibly got a hole in where it rubs on the engine parts. Replaced that a few years ago and guess it's time to do it again. Also the hose on the bottom right (below the 90 degree...

Continuing from above. This morning my car was feeling worse. Left it half way to work because it felt so close to dying and got a lift in the rest of the way. This evening after getting dropped off back at my car I decided to see if the engine was running okay. Was nice and smooth as normal but...

I have a similar problem with it feeling like my brakes are on. Accelerating feels like the car really struggled to get up to speed. Coasting in neutral has let me know my brakes are not on. I have the 3 amigos on which have been showing for a couple of weeks, could they be anything to do with...

My Freelander has twice died on me. Both times caused by fuel pump failure. Looking into the engine bay from the front it is mounted on the right hand wall. First time it died with no warning signs, it just cut out and that was it. I'd had the car for 28 days and as it came with a month warranty...

I was told you could blow a load of smoke into one of the intercooler pipes and then look to see where it leaks out. I was lucky with just a split pipe so had the easy fix. When you do find the cause of your problem do let us know as I'm sure one of us will get the same sooner or later.

Landygirl87, your landy isn't a trash bag. It just has lots of character! How dull it would be to have a car to walk away from in the evening and not to think about until you drive it the next day. With your landy you get the pleasure of nursing it over night, sweet talking it to not get sicker...

Turned out that mine was just a split in the intercooler hose. The one on the left of the engine as you look at it from the front. That one that rubs on the corner so will soon wear another hole in itself. Looks like a big P-clip should have been fitted to keep the pipe away from the engine.

Can now add a split intercooler hose to my earlier post.

I'm so pleased I've found this. My Freelander TD4 has just started to have the power drop off just as I accelerate through 2000rpm. Most noticeable in 4th and 5th gear. Have also noticed what sounds like lots of air being sucked in which I assume is the turbo. This new sound and power loss could...

2001 TD4
My first Landy and only had it a month. So far the fuel pump in the tank has died. Have got some serious creaking now coming from the front drivers side corner. No idea what's causing that yet. Did briefly get 2 flickering amber lights (TC and Landy going down hill picture) the other...

Well I've had my Freelander a couple of weeks now and it just died. Reversing out of my friends drive my engine just stopped. It will not restart or even attempt to fire. Still got plenty of diesel in the tank. Engine turns over but no firing. Any ideas how to get it back to life? Will be...

Hi all,
I went to look for an estate car yesterday and ended up buying myself an 01 Freelander TD4 GS. Was supposed to be buying the other half a birthday present but guess I got distracted.
Having done no previous research I thought I would check out what people say about the...
