Sprayed mine with a black vinyl dye which i got from Halfords. Great finish and still looking good 18 months later.
-
Looking forward to how this thread goes as i've been thinking of doing the same myself.
Etch primer seems to be a must but not sure on the top coat, thinking of using a roller though as i'm sure i can get a good finish with this

The circlip can be a pain to get off. I found sliding a bit of rag between the door card and winder and rotating it about meant it would catch the clip so you can pull it off. Watch out it can come flying off though

It's the hinged latches that i'm finding it hard to source. Need them to bolt to the tonneau and hang down and go over the tailgate locking mech. This way i can put in a padlock and lock the whole thing in one go.
Gas rams are also part of the plan as well and got a few ideas on how to make the...

One of the jobs i'm thinking about once the weather gets a bit warmer is making myself a hard tonneau cover for my 90 pickup. I've been pondering the pros and cons of various solutions from chequer plate to off the shelf soft covers but have decided on making one from Phenolic coated plywood...

How about the door cards? I'm thinking about covering mine as they have seen better days

In the middle of refurbishing my headliner and reallly not looking forward to putting the mirror back on. It sounds a pig of a job!
In my limited experience what looks to be even the simplest job can turn into hours of struggling, usually with the very last nut that just refuses to come off...

Had the same problem the other day, what a pain in the arse!!
Managed to pull the door card away far enough to get my hand into the lock mech and basically fiddle around inside whilst having someone on the outside "jiggle" the key in the lock. After a great deal of swearing and some grazed...

Thanks for the reply birtanedaha, looks like i'd better get the Smith and Allen oils ordered.
Got exactly the same symptoms with mine so with any luck it should be running smooth after an fluid change.
-
Looking to do a fluid change on my TD5 soon and found the MTF94 and EP90 GL4 from Smith and Allen can be bought direct for a very reasonable price.
Has anyone used these before and is it a quality oil or is better to bite the bullet and buy the more expensive Land Rover branded oils?
-
Sounds like a perfect solution Boris113. Have you got any pics of the made up bar/rack as i might have a go at making one myself?
-
Try this place it's a little cheaper Protectakote Van bedliner anti slip protective Protecta-Kote paint
Also i would consider using a primer as i've got a similar finish in my tub which was there when i bought it and it's completely peeled off in places. Don't know if its the same stuff but i...

Got to agree, going from a fairly new Golf GTI to a 2000 TD5 pickup took a little getting used to. I wouldn't change it for anything now though !!
Never had the standard size steering wheel on mine so i cant comment on that but the smaller one i've got seems to give a "relatively responsive"...
