hey, i'm lookin at doing the swap in my 1990 defender 90. what kinda work is involved in the conversion and am i better getting a defender 200tdi. i know there is some work to be done with the downpipe if i get a disco engine. cheers

well that's it all done now. the landy lives to see another day. ended up lifting the engine out. only took a couple of hours to remove. just thought the gearbox looked far too heavy to drop down. its now got me in the mood for changing it for a 200tdi seeings it was so easy to come out.

ok i'll give it a go. if i don't get back on here within a day you'll know i'm jammed under a gearbox. looks heavy. :eek:

up in sunny scotland, glasgow. it's defo a 2.5td. the chassis number says its a 1989 so must have been one of the last ones i.e late registered before the 200 tdi was introduced.

hi all, looking for some advice on my 1990 defender 90 with a 2.5td engine. gonna replace the clutch soon. is it easier to take the gearbox or engine out to to renew the clutch? thanks peter

ok doke sounds like a plan. i've used those clutches in other cars and they've been good.

hi all, having probs with my clutch slipping. just wondering the best company to use to buy the clutch kit and a new crankcase oil seal as i've a sneaky feeling that's whats caused the clutch to fail. any help is very appreciated. cheers peter
