    Windscreen wipers coverage

All sorted with new wheel boxes and a cable. Access to the drivers side windscreen vent fixings was a nightmare, but got it sorted eventually. Pete

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Left the 90 at the MoT station and got the call after lunch saying it had passed with no advisories - very happy. All my hard work at the weekend sorting the wipers and lights paid off. The garage also advised me that I was losing coolant from the expansion tank, so that's a job for the...

    I posted this when I joined: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/hi-new-1996-defender-90-owner.394518/#post-5754303

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

A posh modern Range Rover thingy had blocked a box junction, so I had to make my point somehow ..... Pete

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Checked all the lights ready for MOT: - one indicator side repeater not working - just a bit manky inside - sorted. - one front side light very dim - full of water - new bulb and sorted (for the moment). - rear indicator very faded - replacement ordered. - wiper blades knackered - new ones...

    Windscreen wipers coverage

Thanks. Been looking at how to do that. Interestingly the vehicle came with some spares when I bought it 6 months ago, and these included 2 new wheel boxes ;) Pete

    Windscreen wipers coverage

Ok, had a good look. Yes the wipers can be returned to the park position manually, so definitely slack in the system. Is this likely to be in the rack mechanism or the motor/gearbox ? My gut feel is the rack mechanism as I can move the drivers side manually 2" before I see the passenger side...

    Windscreen wipers coverage

Yes, I considered that, but that leaves the arc with same sweep. I need to widen the arc so it wipes more of the screen both ways. I am guessing this is a wiper gearbox issue. Pete

    Windscreen wipers coverage

1996 Defender 90 SW Wipers run fine, park OK, both speeds work, but they park too high up the screen and don't wipe far enough to the right. It will probably pass the MOT next month OK, but what do I need to fix so they swipe a proper arc ? Thanks, Pete

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I thought it was about time I posted here since my introductory post last year: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/hi-new-1996-defender-90-owner.394518/ I have done the obvious stuff - check/replace/top-up fluids etc. I have swapped out the front centre seat for a cubby box, added Exmoor...

    Horn switch current rating

Ok, I am familiar with car electrics, but not Defender electrics. Where is the best place to take a new fused feed from for the horn relay that I add ? Thanks, Pete

    Horn switch current rating

The horn on my 1986 90 has failed - definitely the horn, as there is voltage to the connectors. So I need to replace it, and would rather fit a High/Low twin horn pair. This effectively doubles the current being drawn, but is the standard horn switch up to it ? I can add a relay and switch that...

    Seat cover recommendations

Just coming back to this, I bought the Exmoor Trim black canvas covers - primarily because they come in 3 pieces per seat and so follow the shape of the seat components. Obviously they are more expensive, and took a while to arrive, but they fit really well - very happy. I forgot to take a...

Is it always like this ?

Thanks. I meant of course handbrake cable not gearbox cable .....

Is it always like this ?

The challenges of Land Rover ownership are coming back to me. I had a Series 2a a while back, but now have 1986 Defender 90 SW. I had planned to replace the R380 gearbox oil a few weekends ago, but didn't have a spanner big enough, or a new copper seal, so I bought the bits and planned to do it...
