quick update on this one, the winner is - boguing ! the carb float bowl was gunged up with a mix of water, petrol and a congealed jelly like substance (no sure what or how...), all now cleared out and the landy going like a dream again! thanks for all the help!

Hi All, I need a hand id'ing this part which is strapped on to the bottom of the air intake elbow just before the carb. Hopefully the pic uploads ok, the part has the flat head screwdriver touching the right hand end of it in the pic. thanks in advance cheers Pete

jamesmartin the base plate moves ok, i can move it back to get the spring back on ok, thinking the spring is past its limit with age and is just not tight enough to stay on the post so slips off the top. pain in the ass...
