Hi, to check servo - with engine off, pump brake pedal until it goes hard. Keep foot on pedal and start engine and you should feel the pedal sink under servo assistance.

A lot depends on you, if you have the money and if it all goes bang losing it is not going to f##k up you life too much then enjoy, if you have to borrow the money to buy it and all goes wrong then you have to borrow more to fix it or replace it...
