also remembered while the problem occured I always waited until they have finished grinding before leaving the car, once the damn noise went on for several minutes and was sure it would bust.

Hi, never found a kit. The mirror gear grinding stopped of its own accord after about a week, and although both mirrors would fold on locking neither ever dipped down again on reversing like they used to. Ended up selling the car so sorry can't be of further help

Thanks Skinny Mike, but at over £200 for a new and £100 for a second hand which may be soon to die I'd be happier replacing the inner gears if I can. I might take it apart and maybe knock something up on the lathe, or just remove the workings and sod it. The trouble at present is that if the...
