It's grey but might help
-
To me that sounds reasonable but the only true peace of mind would be a new/recon VCU.

I don't know if you've read my post above Alibro, but the silicone spray worked for me, well worth a try.
Duh, I've just remembered this is how I stopped the wifes super reliable(whispers behind hand) CRV from creaking
-
Thank you Nodge68, a liberal does of silicone spray pointed past the spring to the top of the strut and some on the strut top nut and plate and bingo silent suspension. Give it a go Alibro
Now I can hear the rest of the noises lol
-
Thanks for that Nodge68, I'll give it a go
-
I am beginning to think it might be the strut, can't see owf wrong with it but ya never know.
Yeah if I sort it I'll post it.

Bought it with the creek thinking "ah a nice little creek to fix to start with".
A knackered drop link (it passed its MOT where I bought it and it was well pooped), bottom arm bushes, anti roll bar bushes, under bonnet n wing bolt check including strut top check and tighten the dashboard later...

OK here I go,
Had a play on slippery ground tuther day, all way OK.
Today i did a 1½ mile trip to a dry area ( garageless at home)
Air temp about 5°c and VCU felt cold
VCU dated 05 on my 55 reg
1.2 m alloy bar
9kg took 15 sec
4.5kg took 24 sec
2.8kg took 43 sec
Feeling sort of comfortable with...

Cheers Nodge68, the remote idea sounds good for our Cumbrian winters

My FBH tends to growl/trumpet for about 30 seconds about 1 minute after starting on a cold morning. Is this common?
And yeah it does run over after switch off. Amuses people passing by when they see the plume from under the front

Thanks hd3 for the link, I couldn't find anything during my feeble search's.
Slowly getting to know my way around here.

I check my tyre pressures weekly and am pleased my Essee came with 4 nearly new Grabber MT's. I thought it would be a prudent habit to get into after hearing about VCU hassles.
It looks like I need to get out and get under and get a close look at my VCU and get it tested.
Again thanks folks for...
-
Cheers lad's it makes sense, I'll give it a retry when I have time. If it gets hot after a journey It wasn't at all warm after a 2 mile twisty journey this morning, I'll give it a longer run and give it a feel soon.
-
Thanks for your reply htr, I think I'll give it another test and time it, it didn't seem to take long to do 45° but didn't time it.
I'll probably just replace it anyway for peace of mind.
Thanks again

Just a quick one, TD4 auto 55 plate has hit 70k , wheel up n turn test shows Viscous coupling seems OK. I've owned it for 4 months and It has a sketchy service record so was wondering if the VC could have been replaced already and does the VC have a date stamp on it.
Thanks in advance
