What swivel housing have I got?

Cheers, James. That suggests I must have a drain plug somewhere as well? On the other early type ones I've seen, the filler was much higher, nearer the top, and the one for the level kind of pointed in a slightly different direction, more towards the axle. Thanks for your help with this.

What swivel housing have I got?

Cheers zeaphod. By "on the other side" do you mean gearbox side? (I thought everything was accessed from the front.) Presumably if there's a level, there'd be a drain as well? I've seen a few of these but never seen one with the fill cap so "low". Take your point re. filling it anyway. But it...

What swivel housing have I got?

Thanks James. It's the top one (top bush type).

What swivel housing have I got?

Ok. That photo's come out kind of big. If I can fix it I will.

What swivel housing have I got?

I'm fairly new to this so apologies if it's a stupid question. I've seen the early ones - with drain, fill and level plugs for oil - and the later ones with a filler plug only for one-shot. Originally, mine should have had the former (it's a 200tdi) but it's had all kinds of lift/suspension...

    Heavy Clutch V Dodgy Hip

I had a similar experience, and did what Marmaduke's suggesting (in fact I changed the whole pedal unit for a later one with that rollover spring while it was out for new master cylinder...). Took me a while because I'm slow and have to check everything fifty times before I do it, but it's made...

Teflon tape on pipe to clutch master cylinder union?

Thanks. If I get time tomorrow morning I'll fill the system as per Brown's suggestion and see what happens.

Teflon tape on pipe to clutch master cylinder union?

Cheers. Haven't filled it yet. Was pressuring it up with a pressured bleed system to check for leaks first. I can actually hear it hissing.

Teflon tape on pipe to clutch master cylinder union?

New master cylinder and new slave cylinder but the system's not holding pressure. I can hear the leak and it's up top. I was careful not to cross-thread when plumbed in the new master and the unions are tight. So I'm wondering what the next step is? Is there something I should use (teflon tape...

Setting up later-style clutch pedal with rollover spring

Cheers, think I've worked it out. (It was actually the slave that went, so I'm swapping the master, too, and thought I'd do something about the pedal at the same time.) Couldn't work out, at first, where the "free play" was meant to be.

Setting up later-style clutch pedal with rollover spring

Hi... Clutch master cylinder on a 200tdi 90 needed replacing. I'm taking the opportunity to also replace the pedal for a later 300tdi-style one with the rollover spring (a present for my left knee). I've never done this before and I'm wondering whether there's any sensible way to set it up...

    Access to clutch slave cylinder

Cheers, all. Shanec... that rod is exactly why I want to see what I'm doing. I've read enough horror stories... I don't know if there are different arrangements for different cars, and I haven't got particularly massive hands, but I can't see a way of getting to mine w/o shifting the exhaust...

    Access to clutch slave cylinder

Thanks! Just what I needed to know. Appreciated.

    Access to clutch slave cylinder

I'd read access was tricky... but it's like trying to get in and out the house via the letterbox. I've new master and slave cylinders to go on a Defender 90 200tdi. The old slave looks like it's been on an age so I'm going to have to get a bit of purchase. I've read comments about moving a part...

    fitting Ifor williams truckman

Mine looks like this. It's an Ifor Williams... came with the Landy and I've not taken it off yet. The fittings look like they're welded to the canopy. The middle one's a spacer. Don't know if it's standard cause it's the only one I've ever had, but hope this helps. Click for large view -...
