Cheers Pos. I'll start by changing the filter and fuel, and wait till it's a bit warmer!

Thanks guys,
Really good advice as always. When I drain the fuel filter, should I get fuel after the water? i.e. if after the water I get no fuel, is it blocked with ice?
Cheers Ed.

I've got a 1991 200Tdi and the fuel pump lever is a bit spindly: in fact, there is no spring on it and it has to be pumped up and down. On my old series 3 the pump was like a spring button and when pressed would return to the start. Should my 200 TDI be like this?
Also, I've got ice in my fuel...

I'm having the same problem (200 TDi) and finally got it to fire, but it would not rev or tick over properly: suspected fuel startvation so tried bleeding the system, but no fuel and pump lever very limp. Took off bottom drain on filter and I had a dribble of water and no fuel BUT there was ice...

Hi Natas,
There are some real dickheads on this site - I took your post in the nature it was intended: don't worry about the cocksuckers rating your motors: most of them wouldn't know a good car if it bit em in the ass: thaey wouldn't jack up their landies if they did!

Cheers chaps. Just got them both off. The big problem was the bottom shock mount nut as it just turned the shock when I tried to undo it. Ended up cutting through the shock body with an angle grinder (sprayed shock oil everywhere!), to release the thing, off with the spring then hacked the shock...

I need to do the springs / shocks on my 90 defender (200 TDi). There's an access panel on the inner wing above the shock turret: do I need to remove this? Or can I get away with leaving it in place?

Got a 90 with solid front discs. I need to replace the calipers, so if I go for vented discs and calipers fron a later landy, are the bits a direct fit?

MOT man says I need to do my swivel seals: one looks like it leaks, but the other's OK, but there's no oil in the diff and teh bearing seals are shot. Both swivels are shiny with no pitting. Do I need to replace the swivels, or will I get away with just the seals? It's a 1991 Def 90 and I think...

That's nothing really and any Landy with no chassis rot problems should be saved!! If you really don't want to do it yourself, get a quoite for the work from an independant like APB or M M 4X4: it should be a lot less.

Go for a Clarke 160 TM - biggest you'll run on 240v and Mine just put a new crossmember on superbly. Well worth paying the extra - you'll never need to buy another mig. Wait for Machine Mart to have another VAT free weekend.

Discoandy is correct - took it to bits today and after removing the hub the bearings are as slack as a bag of spanners. The tester was a bit extreme though - the 'contamination' consisted of the ring of rust around the inside of the brake disc (i.e. where the pads dont contact), being slightly...
