    avoid britpart ,for important things ! you can get a cheepy zenith carb copy for £60 by the real deal is over 300!! same with distributors ,cheepy copy of lucas for 40 quid , real mccoy is nearer 200!!, i would hate to buy a "restored " landy done with all britparts !!

    i had a 6 cly ,i would say 3 500 rpm is max for that engine,never known springs in lucas distributor to break,? had one stuck on full advance,engine ran but used a lot of petrol,why dont you take it off and strip it down and see whats going on? your problem may be the rubber diaphragm in zenith...

    its a landrover! ive had 600 x 16 to 265 x 75 x 16 0n steel 5.5 ,, 265s were crap in snow , 600 like pram tyres , ive 235 x 85 on the now , good for gearing etc

    looks like choke cable stuck,if that doesnt work ,the rubber o ring in the carb could be leaking ,letting excess fuel into manifolds or just general old zenith heat distortion on jet block

    to tell you the truth , they are not the best of carburettors , very prone to any fine sediment getting to jets ,which are hard clean and icing too!
