Tickover is pretty low if I remember correctly.
I would get it all running and driving nicely before considering changing the distributor, never found points a problem.
Thanks for keeping us up to date, it's always nice to see. You've made a good start.
Don't buy cheap hoses, I had to replace all of mine after just a year. Get a new thermostat and gasket when you do the coolant.
I fitted an electronic...
Fitted the new Weber carb last weekend, along with new plugs, leads and an online fuel filter (still got to replace the points, but I'll do that when I properly service it in 2 weeks time - not being run for a couple of weeks, so no rush).
I'm...
Thank you for adding to the conversation, it's great to know I'm not alone. One of the first things we did before trying to start it when we rolled it out of storage was to drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel.

My series 3 was running badly so I replaced the Zenith Chinese copy with a new Weber kit. What I now believe is the rusty fuel kept blocking up the carb jets. I would advise anyone recommissioning a series to save themselves the frustration to...

Mine had a solex on it when i got it.. it was awful..
I mean.. it was ok.. but lacked torque.
I put an SU on it and it was awesome, much better than other landies I've had with Weber or zenith on. the engine is really smooth and quiet.
The Webber...
Welcome to the forum.
I would suggest a Webber is the most affordable option.
Rebuilt carbs are pretty expensive last time I looked.
Don't be tempted by the Chinese Zenith, we had one and it was total rubbish. We then got a good 2nd hand Zenith...

I'm lucky enough to have been gifted a wonderful old petrol series 2a (with fewer than 50,000 on the clock) by an uncle, who had not run it since well before lockdown, and I need to get it...
