Made a boot divider to stop the big lump of a dog we've rehomed squashing the slightly smaller lump of a dog we rehomed a couple of years ago.
The frame is 16mm x 1.4mm square box - about £8.50's worth, the mesh was repurposed from a L319 boot...
Well, I was stomping down the motorway towards Bordeaux. Outside lane at 70mph, cruise control engaged and loss of power fullstop along with a continuous engine light....
Then I had to push between two wagons to pullover. Engine still running...
Drove to Newquay and back - ~600 mile round trip, to pick up this poor lad, he had to be taken away from his home of three years, kept in Police kennels for a couple of weeks, then 'rescue' kennels for a month, then rehomed - didn't work out...
Try changing the fluid, very few people do. Take small sample of the oil onto white paper and examine its content for crap. Siphon and refill until it becomes clear while turning the wheels lock to lock after every refill. 👍
Was a bit quite after period of active skip and city trips (yes, it made it back from the skip). It took 3 different garages to get an MoT, due the incompetence of the first garage. Booked space to work on fixing the leaking diff.
My partner...
Drove it to Barcelona! (Technically, that’s what I did in my Range Rover yesterday but I had to have a little lie down after we made it all the way…)
It was a bit hesitant to downshift when I put my foot down which is a worry. Hope we make it...
Went out and found a couple of local lanes before the weather set in. The car has now picked up a few scratches on the panels I’ll need to get sorted though.
However, Just blown away again by this marvellous piece of machinery. Cleaned it off a bit checked all the fluid and put the battery on...... First turn of the key and it fired right up. Just amazed. Didn't even need the battery booster. Blew up...
Changed a split EGR pipe on our most recent 'financial mistake'. My brother and I bought a 2010 L320 RRS with a "Restricted Performance" fault. Owner was selling cheap and fully disclosed the issue so we thought "How hard can it be?" ;)...
Replaced a rear light bulb today.. and the car thanked me by throwing another ABS fault error. Changed the NS front previously.. so a 33.3% chance to guessing the next one.
Finally got time today to re-install the dash on Green P38. Glovebox needs adjustment, but heater all working & all flaps moving as they should. Next job is MOT, and then flush the water & refill the cooling system with correct stuff.
I went to bmw dealer a few years ago, just to be nosey more then anything serious.
I walked out when he said the modern petrol engines don't need spark plugs anymore
New battery arrived the other day. Did a top up charge & installed it. Then went for 30min coffee while waiting for Key Code Lockout to time out again. Started first time & finished topping up water in cooling system. Heater working...
Mine tried to kill me today
It's been harbouring a dangerous fugitive!!
On a busy, twisty A road this morning it decided to unleash an angry wasp upon me!!
Always tempted to fit a rolling message bar at the back window with preset messages such as:
-switch your lights on
-switch your fog light off (when in the middle of the night)
-stay in lane
-move to the left lane (when hogging the mid lane)
I got tired of the 'cloak of invisibility' letting other drivers think the road was clear and they were fine to pull out / across the front of me, so I made a Clarkson-esque upgrade....
It can be made to strobe, too... ;)
Fixed the broken inner door handle cable.. then removed the glove box and looked over into the depths of the dash towards the left hand blend motor ....and thought....
errrr ......
no....
not today 🤭
Uncovered him, took him off trickle and removed the dehumidifier.
Apart from a sulking speedo again, 50 miles faultless wafting.
Fuelled up ready for the funeral trip next weekend, last 220miles saw 19.2mpg. Pretty happy with that.
