    Rear Wheel Bearing Question

Thanks for clarifying. Before this, I had assumed there was an oil seal that kept the oil from getting into the hub but it makes sense that you would want oil to keep the bearings cool and lubricated. So if I am seeing oil outside the hub, it sounds like it is time to replace the hub caps or at...

    Rear Wheel Bearing Question

I have a 1985 CSW with the Salisbury Rear Axle. Recently, I noticed oil leaking from the cap on the drive hub. After taking apart the rear hub, it became apparent to me that nothing is preventing the diff oil from coming into the hub and into the wheel bearings. Am I missing something? Some...

    Winch Bumper Recommendation

Well, got the bumper mounted today and it looks great. Not going to put the spots back on. I think it looks better without, I've got the ones on the roof and it blocks cooling to the engine anyways. And would you look at all of the sunshine!!! Still need to mount the number plate obviously.

    Winch Bumper Recommendation

Ended up buying the winch bumper from these guys and am extremely pleased. It arrived today after only just ordering end of last week. It was well packaged to avoid any damage during shipping. After unwrapping, I got to see how well made and stunning this bumper was. My hats off to Ian and the...

    Winch Bumper Recommendation

Has anyone purchased a winch bumper from these guys? http://www.rock-sliders.co.uk/landrover-defender-front-winch-bumper.html Looks like a nice bit of kit. And I have what might be a seemingly obvious question about fitting a winch. Are winch bumpers made specifically to fit certain winches...

    LT95 Vacuum Diff Lock Switch

I am now fairly convinced that it is the switch that has gone bad. I've done several tests and the switch works in one position and not the other. Next step will be to attempt to disassemble the switch and see what we have. What's there to lose since the switch is bad anyway? As these things...

I bought mine from SP4x4 (http://www.sp-4x4.com/category_s/108.htm) but YRM Metal Solutions also sell them as do several others.

    1984 110 door restoration

This was one of the first jobs I did in my '85 110. How are your welding skills? Lots of companies sell the metal piece at the bottom of the door. It's as simples as peeling back the door skin, cutting the old piece out and welding a new piece in, then putting the door skin back.

    Wanted Diff Lock Vacuum Switch

I am in need of a Diff Lock Vacuum Switch from an early Defender. Part number is FRC5656.

    LT95 Vacuum Diff Lock Switch

Should there be vacuum present from both sides of the switch to operate the diaphragm or is it a vacuum on one side and a vent on the other? I'm just trying to make sense of the vacuum noises I am hearing from the switch. Seems like everything points to a leaking switch I am just trying to avoid...

    LT95 Vacuum Diff Lock Switch

Can anyone tell me how this thing works? I had to disconnect it in order to remove the gearbox. I am fairly confident that I reconnected everything the way it was. When I pull the switch, nothing happens. If I swap the clear and red tubings, I can get the diff lock to engage but then it...

    Clutch woes after install

In the end, I bought a pressure bleeder to force the fluid through the master cylinder. Before this, as I was pushing down on the clutch pedal the fluid level wasn't going down but the fluid was getting frothy. I think that the master cylinder was air bound and by using the pressure bleeder, it...
