Hi all, i have taken it upon myself to rechassis a hi-cap pick up, its an A reg defender with a 2.25 diesel. My question is that the seat box is shot, its the one with a nearly square transmission tunnel, if i get a later seat box to fit it can it be converted, is it simply a case of changing...

have you tried putting the earth jump lead on the engine somewhere rather than on the battery?

i will have a think about that one, obviously what ever engine i buy i will rebuild anyway

Was thinking the very same thing, should i use my defender lt77 gearbox or the disco one? i have heard the gearing will be wrong on my gearbox as it was on a 2.25

also do the 200 tdi's suffer from cracked heads like the 2.25 diesels?

i wouldn't mind one but its wiring it up, so i guess 200tdi then, what needs to be changed, exhaust i can make

so then can anyone tell me which engine is better to install, 2 or 300 tdi, will my gearbox, ratio's be ok etc?

oh my god, right. 200 tdi or 300tdi? which is easier to fit or better?
