    TD5 - Clutch squeal

I replaced the clutch on my 110 Td5 (now thankfully replaced by a 110 300Tdi) only to have the same noise return a week later from the new thrust bearing. Advice, unless the clutch slips, leave it alone.

Help Needed With Buying A Td5 110 Landrover

Don't know if you've bought a Defender yet, but if you are still looking, forget the Td5. Go for a really good 300Tdi, they are out there, but you'll have to pay good money. The Tdi is much more of a DIY friendly Land Rover. Would'nt worry so much about age, just overall condition.

    Which Defender

Yep, go for the new Defender. I've had grief with the Td5 engine. The "new" Ford engine is a brilliant unit. It's what the Defender was waiting for after the demise of the 300Tdi.

Short cut, you could carefully cut a hole in the floor above the fuel...

    TD5 engine any good

Brilliant BMW based engine, only couple of known problems. First, the oil pump disconnecting itself from its mount and subsequently losing oil pressure. Other problem are the electrics, basically the ECU that controls everything electrical. The mechanics apart from the regular servicing items...

    Colour Co-ordinated Smoke

Hi Sara, The 2.5turbo diesel engine as fitted in your Landie is n't the best of engines. As a n/a diesel it's slow, but otherwise fine and understressed. With the turbo, it's obviously quicker, but they are prone to burning oil, due to general wear. 100 k miles is about tops for these...

Hello, Sounds like a problem with the fuel pump. Is your car a Discovery automatic with a 300Tdi? Regards, Mudbagger

Hello to you all - LR Spares?

Hi Fellow Landie Fans, Found chance to join the forum at long last. I have a 1998 110 300Tdi County (dont see much of this as the wife uses it all the time) and an ex MOD lhd lightweight which I bought from LD & TC Willett in Grantham a few years ago and it's still giving good service...
