Definately a Mig(gas), for easy clean work. You can use a Flux Core wire in a Mig but using Solid Core wire and sheilding gas makes for a much cleaner job !

That does seem to be common. Most of the time the noise is the slack thru the drivetrain. A most certain thing to check would be your driveshafts for wear on U-joints or Rotoflex if it has that. Even on an Automatic if you let off the pedal quickly and then accelerate, you hear a clunk in most...
